CME Writing Success Formula: How to kickstart your CME writing biz with no experience, no network, and no clue ✨

This hands-on workshop is designed to help you transform your CME knowledge and put it into action immediately. You won’t just be learning broad concepts, you’ll be using the frameworks to work on your craft and business in real-time.

It’s on Wednesday, April 23rd at 10am PT/1pm ET.

Hi Reader!

Over the years, I've noticed a clear pattern among writers breaking into specialized fields like CME.

Those who try to figure everything out alone (like me 🙀) often struggle for months or even years.

Those who connect with mentors and communities typically accelerate their progress dramatically.

Why does community make such a difference?

Specialized writing isn't just about putting words on a page—it's about understanding unwritten rules, industry expectations, and effective approaches that aren't documented in any manual.

When you're part of a community focused on your specialty, you gain:

  1. A safe space to ask questions without judgment. In a specialized field, asking so-called "silly" questions to clients can feel risky. Having a community where you can get answers builds your confidence and knowledge base. Pro tip: There are no "silly" questions. All our questions are valid.
  2. Peer feedback on your work. Getting input from others who understand the nuances of CME writing helps you refine your approach more quickly than solitary trial and error.
  3. Opportunities for collaboration and referrals. As you build relationships within your community, natural collaborations emerge. Many writers find their best clients through peer referrals.
  4. Accountability and motivation When you're working alone, it's easy to procrastinate on important tasks. Community creates positive peer pressure that keeps you moving forward.

In the penultimate episode of this special Write Medicine podcast series, I explore the power of community and provide a complete roadmap for building a thriving CME writing business.

Finding your place in the CME community

There are several ways to connect with others in this field:

As you consider your next steps in CME writing, remember that you don't have to navigate this journey alone. The right support system can make all the difference in your experience and success.

Next week, I'll be sharing some exciting news about a comprehensive program I've developed to guide writers through building a successful CME writing business. It brings together everything we've discussed in these emails—from understanding the ecosystem to building confidence, mastering business skills, and joining a supportive community.

Until then,

Alex
